Airing after 33 years Ramayan sets world record; beats The Big Bang Theory viewership of 18M

Ramayan sets world record

In the era of web-series, Doordarshan’s most popular show Ramayan is giving tough times to all the OTT platforms. The show that made its way to Television after 33 years, managed to break all the records of the famous web-series such as Game of Thrones, Big Bang Theory, among others. Well, coronavirus lockdown happened to be a blessing in disguise for the Doordarshan.

The mythological show featuring Arun Govil, Dipika Chikhila, Sunil Lahri among others has set the world records with 77 million views. The show has surpassed the viewership of popular sitcom Big Bang Theory's finale episode 18 million views.


Confirming the news, Doordarshan took to their official handle and announced the good news about the show breaking the world record. Soon netizens started trending #RamayanSetsWorldRecord.

Talking about the show, it concluded on 18th April as replaced with Uttar Ramayan, which features the story of Lord Ram, Sita and their twins Luv and Lush. Today i.e. 2nd May the show will be concluding putting an end to the complete Ramayan.
