There isn't a dearth of services dedicated to photos of food and now, Google wants a slice of the pie. Google wants to know what you had for breakfast. Then your lunch menu. Even dinner. Bring it all on. According to reports in the media, Google is testing a new feature in its Google Maps app which will detect when photos are clicked at certain restaurants and subsequently offers to attach them to the establishment's location for others to see.
The feature is called "Photo Notifications" and is on an early rollout to "high-ranking members" of Google Maps "local guides" community.

"These notifications show up after you've taken a photo in public places that Google thinks are interesting to other people, like restaurants and bars. To get these notifications, you need Location History turned on," says a Google help page desciribing the feature.
Earlier in the year, Google had trialed a food photography service called Tablescape. Tablescape was a community to make, share, and discover amazing foodographs. At that point the app was only available to 'Google Trusted Testers' but has since been discontinued.
