Google brings out the camels for India's 67th Republic Day celebrations

No, we don't mean that literally. Google's latest doodle for India's 67th Republic Day celebrations is one of the Border Security Force's camel contingent. The colourful doodle shows the BSF personnel riding the camels with drums, buglers and trumpets.

Unlike the doodles we saw during the holiday season, this one isn't interactive. The one looks like an image straight out of the Republic Day celebrations, what with the festive finery and the musical instruments in tow.

But the BSF camels are hardly just for ceremonies. They happen to be an integral part of the security forces along the Thar Desert.

The doodle today holds special significance because the BSF camel contingent almost did not make it to the R-Day celebrations. A decision that was later over-ruled so as to not break with tradition. Well done, Google. Another doodle well worth our time.
