Apple likely to order 7.2 crore units of iPhone 7 ahead of launch

Riding high on the buzz surrounding the iPhone 7, tech giant Apple has asked its suppliers to ramp up the production for the new model.

The company has reportedly asked its suppliers to be ready with over 7.2 crore units of the iPhone 7, Taiwanese newspaper Economic Daily reported. Apple has reportedly told its suppliers that the iPhone 7 will see a demand to the tune of 7.2 crore to 7.8 crore units.

The figure is much higher than the estimated sales figures in the analysis report of Wall Street, which says that Apple will be able to sell only 6.5 crore units of the phone this year. The data also shows the massive jump in iPhone production in the last two years.

Following the report, shares of Apple have been on a rise in the international Dow index. Apple shares were 1.21% up to $96.55, at the time of publishing the story.

Interestingly, Apple registered its first-ever sales dip in its history this year. However, the speculation surrounding the specifications of the iPhone 7 may boost the company's sales.

According to reports, the new iPhone may come with glass casing, a powerful battery, quad speakers, an A10 processor and have a waterproof-build. A tech blog also speculated that the new model will be loaded with wireless charging like Samsung flagship S7. However, Apple Inc has not confirmed anything about the launch of the next phone.

Apple may launch the iPhone 7 in September.
