Video: Man saves mom and baby during carjacking

A man in the United States emerged as a real-life superhero after he saved a mother and her baby by bravely stopping a thief trying to steal their car. The incident took place near Chick-fil-A restaurant at Fort Walton Beach, Florida when the victim was getting her baby out of the car. 

Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office hailed the brave act of the man and shared a video clip on its official Facebook page. 

“In reference to the Fort Walton Beach Chick-fil-A employee who ran to the aid of a woman with a baby who was being carjacked, we want to say a sincere thank you to Ms. Kelner for providing video of a portion of the encounter. It has been provided to our deputies handling the case. A major shout-out to this young man for his courage!”, the caption reads.

The real-life hero, Mykel Gordon, is an employee at Chick-fil-A restaurant. He jumped to the woman's aid after hearing her scream.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office informed that the thief identified as 43-year-old William Branch, is from DeFuniak Springs. The accused is booked under charges of carjacking and relevant sections of possessing a weapon. The police department also informed that the man was rewarded with a special coin for his act of bravery.
