So Barbie, the ultimate plastic doll, sees what we've all probably been missing for so long! She sees through the pretentious images posted online by that one annoying friend we all have... Pictures, most likely staged, of mountaintops and calm lakes, in sepia tone, and with a vague caption about living life to the fullest.

Sociality Barbie, an Instagram account created by a wedding photographer in Portland, places a hipster version of the plastic toy in situations that are completely unrealistic (yet so true):
See for Yourself: Sociality Barbie on Instagram
One image has Barbie standing in the middle of an open road, wearing thick-rim glasses, an expensive knapsack, and a woollen beanie. The comment says, "Don't Look Back, You're Not Going That Way," and is followed by a flurry of Hash tags (#exploreeverything, #liveauthentic, #wildernessculture, etc.).

Another positions Barbie on the beach with her back to the camera. All you can see is her green jacket and reddish hair being ruffled by the wind. In a quote that captures Millennial's irony-soaked brand of narcissism, writes, "Had to stop looking at the ocean to take a picture of myself looking at the ocean so I could post about how beautiful the ocean was."

Seeing the same pictures with the same captions, again and again, inspired Sociality Barbie's anonymous creator to open the account. "What better way to make my point than with a mass-produced doll?," she told Wired.Read More: "Hipster Barbie is So Much Better at Instagram Than You"
