new changes for Twitter Blue users

Amid controversy over the uninformed and abrupt suspension of numerous journalists’ accounts, Twitter has announced new changes to its Blue Verified. The microblogging site will now be incorporating 'mute' and 'block' signals for Blue Verified.

“Twitter will start incorporating mute & block signals from Blue Verified (not Legacy Blue) as downvotes”, Elon Musk tweeted.

Musk said that all actions of Twitter users will factor into a "NN model" (neural networks) for a tweet and the account tweeting, including positive actions.

“As user accounts develop credibility, their actions will have greater weight, similar to how @CommunityNotes works”, he added.

The Twitter chief added that it has now become easier for the twitter users to read tweets from accounts they follow and other tweet curations.

Recently, the microblogging site launched its new Twitter Blue subscription service with colour ticks for businesses, individuals, government and government organisations. In the new feature, blue tick denotes verified individuals, gold tick denotes business and grey tick for government and government organization. The charges for the verification badge are $8 per month for android users, whereas iPhone users are required to pay $11 per month.

The rift between Elon Musk and the media intensifies after Twitter suspended several journalists’ twitter accounts without notifying them. It started with the suspension of Twitter account named @elonjet which tracked the flights of his private jet.

Recently, Twitter suspended several accounts of journalists - who belong to reputed media outlets - which prompted stern responses from the European Union and the United Nations. However, later on, some journalists' accounts were reactivated.
