Fans of Thalapathy Vijay have a reason to rejoice as the Tamil actor's recent blockbuster Mersal has bagged yet another recognition to it's name. The action-entertainer, directed by Atlee and produced by Sri Thenandal Films starred the Tamil superstar in triple roles. Written by Baahubali, Bajrangi Bhaijaan writer KV Vijayendra Prasad, Mersal featured Samantha, Kajal Aggarwal and Nithya Menen in the female lead roles.

Catch had previously reported that the Mersal album composed by Oscar award winning composer AR Rahman clocked the coveted 10 million streams on global music and audio streaming service, Saavn.

And now, the Thalapathy Vijay blockbuster has won the prestigious Best Foreign Language Film Award at the 4th annual National Film Awards UK for 2018. Mersal was India’s official entry and it had to compete with various films from countries like, France, Russia, Germany, Sweden, Chile, South Africa and Lebanon. It is indeed an incredible achievement for Mersal as this is the first time an Indian film is winning the foreign language film award at the National Film Awards UK.

Upon its theatrical release, Mersal sets the Box Office on fire by raking in more than Rs. 250 crore worldwide. The film also emerged as the fifth South Indian film to cross the Rs. 250 crore mark after the Baahubali series and Rajinikanth blockbusters Kabali and Enthiran.
