Catch had earlier reported that both Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan were keen on buying the remake rights of recent Tamil blockbuster, Theri. The Atlee directorial starred Ilayathalapathy Vijay in the lead role and was a massive hit collecting more than Rs 175 crore at the Box Office.

Shah Rukh Khan, who watched Theri recently, showed interest to remake the Vijay blockbuster in Hindi with Rohit Shetty. Unfortunately for Shah Rukh Khan, Rohit Shetty has now confirmed that he is not interested in remaking the film.

In an interview to a popular daily, the director, who has worked with SRK in films like Chennai Express and Dilwale, stated that Theri remake was just a rumour and he has no plans for the same.

This gives Akshay Kumar an upper hand over SRK, who is planning to produce the Vijay blockbuster under his home production, Hari Om Entertainment. The Khiladi superstar has earlier acquired the rights of Vijay's Thuppakki and Kaththi, produced by Theri maker Kalaipuli S Thanu.
