My next film with Rajinikanth is not sequel to Kabali, clarifies PA Ranjith

On 29 August, Tamil actor-turned-film producer Dhanush confirmed that his banner, Wunderbar Films, is bankrolling the upcoming film of PA Ranjith. Dhanush's father-in-law and Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has been finalised as the lead actor of the film. The untitled film also marks the second collaboration of the Thalaivar and Ranjith after their recent blockbuster Kabali.

Ever since the announcement was made, it has been widely reported that film will be a sequel to Kabali. However, PA Ranjith squashed the reports in a recent interview to a leading daily.

The super hit director was quoted as saying:

"My next film with Rajinikanth Sir is not Kabali 2. It will be bigger and better than Kabali. The story will be a different genre this time. Rajini Sir is happy with the one-liner I had suggested for the film."
