Last Friday saw the release of the much-anticipated film Theri starring Vijay. And as expected, director Atlee's second outing had a fabulous four-day weekend.

Here's Catch's round-up of the Chennai Box Office this week:

Theri has performed extremely well on its opening weekend. The movie released on the Tamil New Year and had the benefit of the four-day weekend and major contributions came in on the opening day itself. The movie opened to houseful shows in almost all the cinemas in Chennai. The Ilayathalapathy starrer collected a record-breaking Rs. 3.45 crore at the Chennai Box Office to see the highest four-day opening weekend ever in Chennai.

Shah Rukh Khan starrer, Fan had to face tough competition from Theri, yet the Bollywood film surprised every one with its terrific collections. The superstar film released in 15 cinemas in Chennai and managed to rake in Rs. 50 lakh at the Chennai Box Office on its opening weekend, which is quite commendable considering that film's release date clashed with Theri's.

The Jungle Book

The Jungle Book continued its dream run at the Box Office even on its second weekend; the film had collected Rs. 21 lakh from just 20 screens taking its total to Rs. 1.60 crore from the Chennai Box Office. The 3D-fantasy adventure had already crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at Indian Box Office on Sunday.

During its fourth weekend, Thozha had collected Rs. 3 lakh and the total collection of the film so far is an outstanding Rs. 3.58 crore.

Jacobinte Swargarajyam

Just like his previous films Premam and Action Hero Biju, the Nivin Pauly starrer managed to draw the Chennai audience even during its second weekend. The Malayalam family entertainer continued its glorious run by collecting Rs. 2 lakh on its second weekend just from 11 screens. The 10 day-collection of Jacobinte Swargarajyam now stands at Rs. 14 lakh.
