Kabali: Rajinikanth film completes 100 days, fails to beat Sultan magic

Tamil megastar Rajinikanth's Kabali has completed its 100-day run at the Tamil Nadu Box Office.

The film, which released on 22 July, is still running on limited screens across Tamil Nadu. The Thalaivar's last two releases, Kochadaiiyaan and Lingaa, were disasters at the Box Office.

Kabali has broken one record after another ever since its release. While the film minted Rs 100 crore on its opening day, its satellite rights have also fetched jaw-dropping prices. However, after its record-breaking opening weekend, demand for the film dipped - a direct result of the average reviews and mixed word of mouth.

Kabali was expected to break the lifetime collections of SS Rajamouli's Baaubali : The Beginning and Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's Sultan. Ahead of the release of Kabali, producer Kalaipuli S Thanu had predicted that the film would do ten times the business that Salman Khan's Sultan did.

While Sultan crossed Rs 500 crore at the worldwide Box Office, the Rajinikanth-starrer is currently on its last legs, with Rs 300 crore at the Box Office.
