Jayam Ravi-Lakshmy Menon starrer Miruthan and Vijay Sethupathi-Remya Nambeeshan starrer Sethupathi both opened to good reviews from critics as well as the viewers. However, the third release of the week, Navarasa Tilagam, starring Ma Ka Pa Anand and Srushti Dange carried negative reports from the very first show.
Miruthan opened to good reports across Tamil Nadu. The first zombie-horror film of Tamil cinema, which was directed by Shakthi Sounder Rajan, marks the best opening ever for actor Jayam Ravi. The actor thanked the viewers with the tweet, "Thanks for making Miruthan my highest opening at the box office". It seems like another hit for the actor who had earlier delivered the super hit Thani Oruvan.

The second release of the week, Sethupathi, has got the best reviews amongst the three films which released yesterday. It was an experiment for actor Vijay Sethupathi as he has never starred in an out and out action flick before. Actor Vela Ramamoorthy's role as the main antagonist managed to make all the right noises. A strong opening and positive word of mouth have ensured an easy win for SU Arunkumar's directorial.
The third release of the week, Navarasa Thilagam, has been a non-starter from the first show itself. The film opened to a pathetic response and was a disaster as per early reviews across Tamil Nadu. In a few places, its shows were replaced with Miruthan due of lack of audience.
