I want to debut in South cinema, but not as villain, says Varun Dhawan

It's known that Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is making his South film debut as the main antagonist in Shankar's 2.0. The film tipped to be a sci-fi thriller will see Akshay Kumar portraying the role of an evil scientist Dr. Richard. 2.0 also marks his first collaboration with superstar Rajinikanth.

Similar to Akshay Kumar, young Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan is planning to debut in South film industry. In fact, the Judwaa 2 actor has expressed his desire to debut as main lead in Telugu or Tamil films.

“I want to debut as a hero in Tamil or Telugu cinema. After the first film, I can play whatever character the script demands,” Varun Dhawan said.

Meanwhile Varun Dhawan's October is set to have it's India theatrical release on Friday. Directed by Shoojit Sircar of Pink fame and jointly produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar, the romance drama marks the acting debut of Banita Sandhu.
