Last Friday saw the release of Vasantha Mani's Vetrivel starring M. Sasikumar. However, it was Atlee's Theri which continued its dominance in the Chennai Box Office.

Here is Catch's round-up of the Chennai Box Office this week:

Theri

As expected, Theri retained most of the Chennai screens in the second weekend and saw terrific collections throughout the weekend. The Ilayathalapathy starrer has overpowered the recent release, Vetrivel. On its second weekend, Theri collected Rs. 1.85 crore at the Box Office. The film, which released 10 days ago, has collected Rs. 8 crore, so far.

Vetrivel

Vetrivel had an average opening weekend at the Chennai Box Office. The film struggled to do well as the Theri wave dominated the Box Office. Vetrivel collected Rs. 30 lakh on its opening weekend, which is average for a Sasikumar starrer. However, the movie was met with extremely positive reviews and might help it get better collections in upcoming weeks.

The Jungle Book

The Jungle Book created history at the Chennai Box Office on its third weekend. The film crossed the magical Rs. 2 crore mark to become the second Hollywood film after Jurassic World to do so. The 3D-fantasy adventure collected Rs. 24 lakh this weekend taking its total to Rs. 2.08 crore from the Chennai Box Office.

Sarrainodu

Telugu action entertainer, Sarrainodu had a great opening at the Chennai Box Office. The Allu Arjun starrer collected Rs. 22 lakh from just 85 shows in Chennai.

Fan

Shah Rukh Khan starrer, Fan has continued to surprise everyone with its steady collections in the second weekend. The film had a rock steady second week with Rs. 5 lakh collection from just eight cinemas, which is quite commendable for a non-Tamil film. The total collection of Fan, so far, is a good Rs. 86 lakh and is now all set to cross the Rs. 1 crore mark in Chennai. However, theatrically in India, Fan has turned out to be a flop.
