It's known that BJP members have asked the members of Thalapathy Vijay's Diwali release Mersal to remove the dialogues on GST (Goods and Service Task) in the film. The matter turned out to be a huge controversy as many Tamil film industry members including Kamal Haasan and Arvind Swamy urged the makers of Mersal not to remove those scenes from the film.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi too attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi warning him not interfere in Tamil films.

However, much to the disappoint of BJP members, the controversial 'GST' scene from the Thalapathy starrer has been leaked on Saturday and turned out to be a massive hit on social media worldwide.

The clip features Vijay addressing the media and says

"People paying 7% GST in Singapore and getting free medical care. Yet, Govt of India is taking 28% GST from people and unable to provide free medical care. Why ? For medicine, we pay 12% tax where as no GST on liquor/alcohol. Govt hospitals in India didn't have oxygen cylinders. Curious to know what is the reason for not having oxygen? Because for two years Govt hospital didn't have the money to pay to the oxygen supplier. In another Govt hospital, four patients died due to the power failure happened during the medical dialysis and it's shame to say they didn't have power back up. A newborn baby kept in incubator died of rat bite. People fear Govt hospitals more and that fear is the reason why private hospitals thrive in India".
