Arjun Reddy emerges box office blockbuster within first week, Dhanush bags Tamil remake rights
Last week Telugu release Arjun Reddy has ended its first theatrical week on a terrific note. The film, which marked the directorial debut of Sandeep Vanga, starred Vijay Deverakonda of Pelli Choopulu in the titular role of Arjun Reddy. Produced by Pranay Vanga, Arjun Reddy also marks the Telugu debut of Shalini Pandey.
The low budget film has clocked Rs 31 crore worldwide within its opening theatrical week to become a clean blockbuster worldwide. In India, Arjun Reddy has minted Rs. 19 crore while at overseas the Vijay Deverakonda starrer finished the first week run with a whopping Rs. 12 crore.
Arjun Reddy has opened to extraordinary reviews from the audience and critics alike. The film is 187-minutes long, yet it has been praised heavily for its bold theme and the brilliant performances of its lead cast especially Vijay Deverakonda, whose performance is touted to be a strong contender for next years' best actor category at national films. The content of the film is so brilliant that it has inspired Tamil actor-producer Dhanush to acquire the Tamil remake rights of Arjun Reddy within first week of it's theatrical release.
