'U' certificate for 24: Suriya's sci-fi thriller to release on 6 May

The censor board has cleared the much-awaited Suriya movie, 24. The film has got a cleanchit in the form of a 'U' certificate from the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) on Thursday evening. The film's censor certificate had created headlines and became a trending topic on Twitter and other social networking sites.​

The science-fiction thriller is all set to release on 6 May, 2016. The film was earlier scheduled to release on 14 April but was later postponed citing delay in CG works of the film.

However, the film's overseas release will be on 5 May.

Cine Galaxy Studio - US, which is the North American distributor of 24, has confirmed the release date on Twitter.

The Overseas Films Distribution Studio tweeted:

"Get ready for our next, visually stunning sci-fi thriller #24themovie in theaters near u from May 5th in USA."

24 is the second biggest release in a row for Cine Galaxy Studio after the Vijay starrer Theri.

Touted as a Tamil - Telugu bilingual film, 24 stars the Ghajini superstar in a triple role - Athreya, Mani, and Sethuraman. Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menen are paired opposite Suriya in the film. The film is directed and written by Vikram Kumar and produced by Suriya, under his home banner, 2D Entertainment. The music has been composed by A R Rahman.
