Actor Dileep faces public ire as Kerala police continue probe

Malayalam superstar Dileep, arrested in connection with the abduction and molestation of a popular actress, was on Thursday taken by police to three places in Thrissur as part of collecting evidence, and faced an angry crowd each time.

Dileep, who was arrested on Monday, was sent to two days police custody by a lower court near here on Tuesday.

On Thursday, the police brought Dileep first to a parking ground of a hotel in Thrissur, but seeing a huge crowd shouting slogans against the actor, the police kept him inside the police van.

He was then driven to another hotel where he was taken to a room where he had stayed during the shoot of a film. The police had to brave a big crowd outside the hotel.

He was later taken to a tennis club where the police kept him inside the van, seeing an angry crowd collected there. The police took his statement inside the van.

Later, he was asked to come out of the van and was taken to the office of the tennis club.

The police have charged Dileep with hatching the conspiracy in the kidnapping case, according to which prime accused Pulsar Suni went ahead with the abduction and the alleged molestation attempt of the actress inside a car in February this year.

On Wednesday, the actor was taken to two places in Ernakulam.

Dileep has to be produced before the court on Friday morning, as the police remand will be over.

The police are trying to connect all the dots in the case to crack the conspiracy theory. The police probe team was told by Suni about the places where the conspiracy was hatched by Dileep.

A few pictures are also with the police about the places where Dileep and Suni had met.

Meanwhile, fresh trouble surfaced for the beleaguered actor when the brother of actor Kalabhavan Mani on Thursday told the media that he suspected Dileep was involved in his brother's death as the latter had real estate links.

Mani passed away in March last year after he was brought to a private hospital from his farm house near here.

While it has been proved scientifically that there were chemical substances found in the dead actor's body, no headway has been made in the case. The case has been handed over to the CBI.

In Thrissur, media persons asked Dileep if he suspects that he is being hounded by someone who is out to finish him.

But Dileep sported a smile and remained silent.

On Wednesday, an assessment by revenue officials found that the actor has a rich portfolio of real estate in the form of land, buildings and also partnership deals in a few business ventures.

The actor's brother Anoop has alleged that Dileep is being hounded and claimed he will come out unscathed in the case.

According to those in the know, the police is likely to take statements from Dileep's wife and actress Kavya Madhavan and her mother.

Dileep's bail application plea is also coming up on Friday on the court.

Dileep in his 25 years as an actor featured in over 130 films and also owned his own production company besides a good number of multiplexes.
