Yamuna Expressway Bus Accident: 29 killed as double-decker bus from Lucknow to Delhi falls into canal

At least 29 people were killed after a double-decker after a government-run double-decker bus from Lucknow to Delhi fell into a canal on the Yamuna Expressway on Monday morning (July 8).

As per the reports of ANI, the bus was carrying around 40 passengers which fell into a ‘jharna nalla’ on Yamuna Expressway in Agra.


 

 

Several people are injured and have been rushed to the hospital.

The double-decker bus belonged to Awadh Depot and was going from Lucknow to New Delhi.

After this unfortunate incident, the local administration reached the spot and started the relief, rescue operation.

According to the reports of HT, Agra’s senior superintendent of police Babloo Kumar said families of passengers can call on 9454402732 to get details about their relatives.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his condolences to the passengers who were killed in the accident. He also directed the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police to provide all possible help to the injured persons.

Also, UP roadways has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased.

Meanwhile, the reason behind the fatal accident has not been ascertained as yet.
