Weather Update: Churu shivers at 4.2 degrees Celsius; cold wave alert for northern Rajasthan; full forecast here

Biting cold continued to grip Rajasthan on December 23, with the mercury falling below 10 degrees Celsius at various locations in the state.

Churu has become the coldest place in the desert state, with a temperature of 4.2 degrees Celsius.


Jhunjhunu’s Pilani has emerged as the second coldest place with 5.1 degrees Celsius on December 22 night. The minimum temperature in Sikar was 6 degrees Celsius, whereas Alwar recorded 6.5 degrees. Nagaur, Phalodi (Jodhpur) recorded 6.9 and 7.4 degrees respectively. The night temperature in Sriganganagar was 7.5  degrees Celsius on December 22.

According to the weather department, the minimum temperature at other places was above 8 degrees Celsius.

The northern districts of Sriganganagar, Bikaner, Churu, Pilani (Jhunjhunu), and Alwar witnessed dense fog today.

The MET Department predicted that the weather will remain dry in the state for the next four to five days. Bikaner Division is expected to record dense fog for 24 hours.

The Weather Department also predicted the possibility of a cold wave in the northern parts of the state due to a slight drop in the minimum temperature in the next 48 hours.
