While inaugurating 'Indira Canteen' in Bengaluru, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on 16th August termed the scheme as 'Amma canteen' instead of 'Indira canteen'.

In a video that had gone viral on social media, Gandhi was quoted as saying,"Indira Canteens will soon be in every city of Bengaluru. Over the next couple of months, every single poor person in Bengaluru that in the state of Karnataka, under Siddaramaiahji's government, I simply cannot go hungry. That is the vision of the Amma, Indira Canteen."

But Rahul's speech did not stop here and he made another gaffe in the same speech saying ''every city in Bengaluru".

He said, "The chief minister has mentioned to me that Bengaluru is just the beginning. Soon, over the next couple of months, every single city in Bengaluru, every single poor person in every single city in Bengaluru, will feel that in the state of Karnataka, under Siddaramaiah government, 'I simply cannot go hungry.'"

Rahul also congratulated the Karnataka Government and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for the initiative and said that the Indira Canteen is another step towards the "Food for All" commitment of the Congress.

The Congress vice-president said that breakfast would be served at Rs. 5 and lunch and dinner at Rs. 10 in the canteen.

A hoarding carrying a picture of former prime minister Indira Gandhi and a young Rahul were also placed outside the canteen.
