JNU student Umar Khalid - who has been accused of being a JeM sympathiser, of having made 800 calls to Pakistan, the Middle East and Kashmir and of having masterminding pro-Afzal Guru protests across several universities in the country - returned to the JNU campus on Sunday night.
Khalid was accompanied by the five other students who have been on the run ever since the 9 February event on the campus. While it was expected that the six would be detained by the police, no such action was taken.
Khalid got a hero's welcome from other JNU students. Speaking to a rapt crowd, Khalid delivered a fiery speech, where he touched upon a number of topics, including caste oppression, identity politics and the media trial. He also stressed on the fact that JNU would not stop its protests. Watch his speech here:
