Viral: Passenger claims women smoking ‘Ganja’ inside train; Railways responds

Smoking cigarettes in trains is a punishable offence and in some cases the passenger can end up in jail as well. Despite this, some passengers continue to smoke in trains, creating an discomforting environment for other passengers.

Similarly, a passenger shared a video on Twitter complaining that some women were allegedly smoking cigarettes inside the train. Tagging Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, passenger Parmanand Kumar claimed that the girls were smoking cigarettes and marijuana the whole night.


The incident took place when Kumar was travelling on Tatanagar to Katihar train. According to him, the women boarded the train in Asansol and smoked marijuana and cigarettes throughout the night.

“These girls smoking marijuana and cigarettes the entire night. They boarded the train at Asansol,” he said in a tweet, sharing the video.

In the video clip, one of the women can be seen smoking cigarettes in the coach near to a toilet.

Railway Seva quickly responded to the passenger’s tweet and requested him to share the journey details.

“Sir, we request you to please share the journey details (PNR/Train No.) and Mobile No. with us preferably via DM. You may also raise your concern directly on http://railmadad.indianrailways.gov.in or dial 139 for speedy redressal,” Railway Seva tweeted.
