The Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde made a strong comment on Hindu girls and their safety. On Sunday Hegde said if any men touch Hindu women there should be cut down. The Karnataka MP Anantkumar Hegde, who is well known for his controversial statements, was speaking in an event in Kodagu district.

“There should be a fundamental shift in our thinking. We should keenly observe what’s happening around us. Regardless of caste and religion, a hand that touches a Hindu girl should not exist,” the minister was quoted as saying.

In front of a huge crowd on Sunday, the minister also said: "Taj Mahal was not built by Muslims. It's definitely not built by Muslims, the history speaks for it. Shah Jahan in his autobiography has said he bought this palace from King Jayasimha. It's a Shiv mandir built by King Paramatheertha, Tejo Mahalaya. Tejo Mahalaya became Taj Mahal. If we keep sleeping, most of our houses also will be named manzil. In future, Lord Ram will be called jahanpana and Sita will become bibi."

Earlier, Hegde irked controversy by his comment on Kerala’s Sabarimala Temple after two devotees below 50 years, entered the Lord Ayyiappa Temple. He said the development was a “daylight rape of Hindus”.

"The Kerala government has entirely failed. I would like to say that it's totally daylight rape on Hindu people," he told news agency ANI.

Mr Hegde, a senior Karnataka leader of the BJP, has been a non-stop source of provocative remarks that didn't pause even after he joined the central government in 2017.
