Of late, Bollywood singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has been making news for his foot-in-mouth comments. This time around however, the singer has unintentionally drawn attention for having reportedly written an open letter in protest of actor Aamir Khan's comments on intolerance.
Khan triggered a massive controversy on 23 November, when he spoke of having contemplated leaving the country fearing the rising incidents of intolerance, at the Ramnath Goenka Awards in New Delhi.
A national daily, on 27 November, published an open letter that they claimed was penned by Bhattacharya.

The rather emotionally-charged letter, addressed to Aamir Khan, subscribes to the logic that Aamir owes his popularity to the very country which calls him intolerant.
"Your name is Khan and you Sir, are a hypocrite," says the letter, which also questions why Khan was silent on intolerance during the Mumbai terror attacks of 26/11.

The open letter was shared across social media by those who echoed the writer's sentiments.
However, Catch did some digging and found that the letter, that was mistakenly credited to Bhattacharya, was in fact, originally published on 24 November by Shifali Vaidya.
While Abhijeet had expressed his displeasure at Aamir's comments, he confirmed to Catch that he did not pen the letter.

When asked on why the national daily referred credited the letter to him, he said he didn't know. "All media follow me," he added.
The real author of the letter, Shifali, had a good laugh about it.
Guess tolerance isn't a lost cause after all!
Since the post has been circulated, Abhijeet is sure to enjoy some undeserved appreciation for the rather-articulate letter - a far cry from his usual posts. Here's a look at some of the gems from the singer:
