The Kerala Police on Thursday confirmed that six more youth from Kannur have joined the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Syria.

The police said these people were active workers of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in Kerala.

On October 26, two men were arrested for their suspected links with Islamic State (IS) terrorist group.

The arrests had been made after three people from Kannur, who were believed to have joined IS and left the country to undergo training in Syria, were arrested by the police.

Earlier in July, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) operative Shajahan Velluva Kandy, a resident of Kannur in Kerala, was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International airport on his deportation by the Turkish authorities.
