A shocking news for Congress President Rahul Gandhi and his party spokesperson RS Surjewala, who has been charged with a defamation case. Yes, a Gujarat bank named Ahmedabad District Co-operative (ADC) bank and also its chairman Ajay Patel have filed a criminal defamation case separately in a metro court on Monday.

According to the reports of Indian Express, the ADC Bank has slapped a case due to the false statements made by the two leaders which they tweeted. Surjewala had earlier, in a press conference, stated that during Demonetisation, the bank had converted Rs 745 crore worth of old currency for new,” said Ajit Jadeja, counsel for the petitioner.

He also told that the further hearing of the case will be held on 17th September and also the court prima facie found substance in our complaint and accepted it.

Jadeja also said that Congress party spokesperson also made the accusations on the bank without verifying the facts and said that the BJP made 81% gains from the transactions.

Here’s what Surjewala said:

He alleged that the ADCB had alleged that the bank exchanged the demonetised currency worth Rs 745.58 crore in five days after the demonetization. Congress spokesperson also alleged that the Ahmedabad District Co-operative (ADC) bank chairman Ajay Patel was a close associate of BJP chief Amit Shah, who is a director and former chairman of the bank.

Meanwhile, ‘about Rs 745 crore, the bank didn’t even have 7% of the amount he claimed,’ said Jadeja.

He also further added that such remarks by the leaders also affected the new account holders who wanted to open their account with ADCB. Jadeja also said Surjewala then went on to tweet the allegations which were also tweeted by Rahul Gandhi.

However, the tweet was come to notice by some depositors to the bank’s chairman who raised the concern that it would affect the reputation of the bank.
