Send Bhagwant Mann to rehab, demand Lok Sabha MPs

Speed News Desk | Updated on: 2 August 2016, 15:55 IST

Aam Aadmi Party MP Bhagwat Mann has found himself in a fresh controversy, after his Lok Sabha colleagues appealed to the Speaker to send him to rehab for drug and alcohol de-addiction.

Shiromani Akali Dal's Prem Singh Chandumajra, BJP's Maheish Girri and suspended AAP MP Harinder Singh Khalsa wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, urging her to take action against him, and send Mann to a rehabilitation centre at the Lok Sabha's expense.

The MPs have further requested the Speaker to allow Mann to attend proceedings at the Lok Sabha only after he has successfully completed his time in rehab.

In the month of July, Mann drew a lot of flak for live-streaming his entry into the Parliament, and was condemned for endangering the Parliament premises by exposing the security details inside the compound on social media.

Enquiry proceedings are underway to determine whether he has breached the privileges that are granted to him as an MP.
