SC directs Bombay HC to hear Jiah Khan's case expeditiously

On 17 May, Jiah Khan's mother approached the Supreme Court, requesting that a Special Investigation Team be assigned to probe the case of the 25-year-old Bollywood star who allegedly killed herself in 2013.

In 2014, the Bombay High Court assigned the case to the CBI.

Jiah Khan's mother, Rabiya, raised concerns about the manner in which the case is being handled in trial courts in the absence of a Special Public Prosecutor.

Taking into account the aggrieved mother's pleas, the Supreme Court has forwarded a directive to the Bombay High Court for expeditious disposal of the matter. The Bombay High Court is set to hear the matter on 7 June.
