Mumbai (Maharashtra): Sameer Wankhede, the former Zonal Director of Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau of India (NCB), revealed on Monday that he and his wife, Kranti Redkar, have been receiving threats and obscene messages for the past four days.

This development comes after Wankhede was recently booked by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on allegations of demanding a staggering bribe of Rs 25 crore.

The bribe was allegedly sought to prevent the framing of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's son, Aryan Khan, in the drugs-on-cruise case.

Threats and Demand for Special Security
"My wife Kranti Redkar and I are receiving threats for the last 4 days and obscene messages coming on social media. I will write to Mumbai Police Commissioner today about it and demand special security," Wankhede informed ANI, expressing concern over their safety.

Wankhede's apprehensions highlight the escalating tensions surrounding the ongoing investigation.

Continued Cooperation with the CBI
Wankhede, who was questioned for the second consecutive day on Sunday, reiterated his full cooperation with the CBI. "I am fully cooperating with the CBI and will continue to do it. I answered whatever I was asked by CBI," he assured ANI.

Allegations of Bribery and Disproportionate Assets
The CBI's decision to book Wankhede stems from the accusation that he demanded an exorbitant bribe of Rs 25 crore.

The agency further revealed that the alleged deal was settled for Rs 18 crore, raising concerns about the source of Wankhede's income.

According to the CBI, Wankhede's assets appear disproportionate to his known sources of income, prompting suspicion and investigation into possible misconduct.

Violation of Conduct Rules
Sources within the NCB have accused Wankhede of violating conduct rules by sharing conversations he had with actor Shah Rukh Khan regarding Aryan Khan's arrest.

The NCB sources expressed their bewilderment, questioning how an investigating officer could engage in such discussions with the family of the accused. They noted that Wankhede failed to inform his superiors or document these chats, even during the vigilance team's investigation into his alleged misconduct.

Additionally, Wankhede allegedly withheld the phone used for communication with Shah Rukh Khan, further raising suspicions surrounding his conduct.
