Russian tourist raped in Goa, 2 Nepali nationals arrested

Russian tourist raped in Goa

The Goa Police arrested two Nepali nationals for allegedly raping a 37-year-old Russian national in a hotel room in Calangute, North Goa. Both the accused used to work as room boys at the hotel.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sakhil Ansari (23) and Sayumdhin Ansari (23), both are residents of Nepal's Bardhiya.


As per police, the victim, who arrived in Goa on December 1, was staying in the hotel with two other people.

After visiting tourist attractions in Goa, the survivor, under the influence of alcohol, came back to her hotel room to sleep. On the pretext of cleaning, one of the accused entered the room and raped the survivor. The survivor did not realize that she was being raped as she was under the influence of alcohol.

 

"The Russian national had consumed alcohol and went to the hotel room to sleep. However, she was not accompanied by the other two roommates at that time," Superintendent of Police (SP) North Goa Nidhin Valsan said.

Later, another accused entered the room and tried to rape her, the woman regained consciousness and shouted for help.

The police have registered the case and further investigation is underway.
