An FIR has been filed against expelled Congress legislator Harak Singh Rawat on 29 July in the Safdarjung police station in Delhi.

A 32-year-old woman has filed a rape case against the former Uttarakhand minister.

Rawat was suspended from Congress earlier in May 2016 this year.

Along with eight other Congress MLAs, he rebelled against the Uttarakhand government.

After his suspension, there had been unconfirmed reports that he will join the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Earlier in February 2014, an FIR was registered against Rawat for allegedly molesting a 30-year-old woman in New Delhi.

The woman, who was a resident of Meerut had submitted a written complaint at Safdarjung Enclave Police Station alleging that Rawat had molested her at a house in South Delhi's Green Park area in September 2013.

Although the woman could not explain the delay in reporting the case, police had registered an FIR in that regard.
