Rampal case: Self-styled godman Rampal Dass sentenced to life imprisonment in two murder cases by Hisar Session court

Self-styled godman Rampal Dass, 15 accused sentenced to life imprisonment in two murder cases. Self-styled godman, Rampal has been convicted in two murder cases. His 27 supporters have also been found guilty in the murder cases.

Rampal Dass and his followers were held guilty last week on Thursday for six murders and the wrongful confinement of the followers. The order was pronounced by Additional District and Sessions Judge, Hisar, D R Chaliya.


Rampal was arrested by Haryama Police on November 19, 2014, after two murder cases were registered against him. First was the death of a woman in the Satlok Ashram in Barwal town of Hisar. The second was filed after the bodies of four women and a child were found in his ashram in November 2014.

Self-styled Rampal and his 28 followers was booked on the charges of murder and wrongful confinement. In 2014, Punjab and Haryana High Court had directed the Haryana Police to arrest Rampal after he repeatedly failed to appear in the court.

Total 28 accused, that includes Rampal and his three women followers have been convicted in two separate rape cases registered in Hisar. Rampal and 15 accused were held guilty by the session court under section 302, 343 and 120 B of IPC. The other 14 accused were convicted in another case registered.
