Home Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval met leaders of the Muslim community on Tuesday to discuss how to prevent the radicalisation of young Indian Muslims by the Islamic State (ISIS), reports The Economic Times. Sixteen young men have been arrested in India so far this year for links with the terror group.

Senior home ministry and intelligence officials also attended the meeting in which issues such as the misuse of social media, possible points leading to radicalisation, the growth of ISIS influence and the best possible response from the forces of law and order were discussed.

Muslim clerics who attended the meeting included Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind's Maulana Arshad Madani, Maulana Abdul Wahid Hussain Chisti of Ajmer Sharif, Asghar Ali Imam Mehdi of Jamiat Ahle Hadees, Tauqeer Raza Khan, Rafiq Warshiq, Shia leader Maulana Syed Kalbe Jawad Qalbe Jawaid, Kamal Farooqi, and Mushafa Faruqi.

The discussion threw up possible solutions to these problems, including welfare schemes for minorities and social media strategies.
