Rajinikanth: Modi is charismatic leader; Rahul Gandhi should not resign but...

South superstar Rajnikanth on Tuesday confirmed that he would be attending Narendra Modi’s oath ceremony as Prime Minister on Thursday and called him a ‘charismatic leader’ like former PM Jawaharlal Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi.

“This victory is a victory for Modi. He is a charismatic leader. In India after JL Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi he is now a charismatic leader. I will be going for the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi ji,” ANI quoted saying, Rajinikanth.


Actor-turned-politician also opened up on Rahul Gandhi stepping down as Congress president post and said that he should prove himself. “Rahul Gandhi should not resign. He should prove he can do it. In a democracy the opposition should also be strong,” said Rajinikanth.

Actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan both have been invited to the oath ceremony of Narendra Modi, who will swear in as Prime Minister for the second consecutive term. PM Modi will be swearing-in on May 30 in the evening at 7 pm.

Kamal Hasaan’s MNM party had an electoral debut this Lok Sabha polls, while Rajinikanth who announced his entry in active politics in December 2017 is yet to formalise his stand on taking the political plunge. Kamal Hasaan, however, did not contest in Lok Sabha election.

When Rajnikanth met PM Modi in the past he had announced that he will float a party that will contest assembly election in Tamil Nadu on all 234 seats. The next election in Tamil Nadu is in 2021.
