As BJP released its manifesto ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at the BJP stating that it was a “voice of an isolated man, short-sighted and arrogant,” but Union Minister Smriti Irani has taken a dig and replied that Gandhi scion is ‘too obsessed with our party.’

The BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’, which was launched at the party headquarters on 8 April in presence of PM Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and other dignitaries, has again promised big for the farmers, security forces and the common man.

Although, Congress president in his tweet said, “The Congress manifesto was created through discussion. The voice of over a million Indian people it is wise and powerful. The BJP Manifesto was created in a closed room. The voice of an isolated man, it is short sighted and arrogant.”

Smriti Irani has taken a dig at the Congress president over his criticism of BJP’s manifesto and said, “ Rahul Gandhi has a special obsession with BJP. Had he been focussed on the country, nation would have come to know his vision for it,” adding that “Despite having a vision, there's a question mark on his efficiency as nations knows condition of Amethi. On one hand there's an efficient govt which has taken resolution to build a New India, on the other there's a man who stays restricted to making announcements.”

In the battleground of Amethi, both the leaders would be pitted against each other, in a repeat of events like that of 2014 elections, when the winning margin of Rahul Gandhi was brought down to one lakh, where he used to win by three to four lakh votes. Amethi has been a bastion of the Nehru-Gandhi family.
