Later on, speaking with Rahul Gandhi, Shivkumar agreed with taking two ministries, he is likely to take the responsibility of irrigation ministry along with medical education as the second ministry.
Along with the name of DK Shivkumar, the name of KJ George and Priyanka Kharge has been also finalised. The discussion on the names happened in a meeting with several senior Karnataka Leaders and it was coordinated by Rahul Gandhi.
The Janata Dal-United (JDS) and the Chief Minister were opposing the decision of appointing a second deputy chief minister of the state after the name G Parameshwar of Congress was finalised as the deputy chief minister of the state.
