The BJP organized massive protests in Jaipur on March 11 against the Rajasthan Government, demanding that the demands of the widows of the jawans, who lost their lives in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, be fulfilled. The widows are currently sitting in protest, and the BJP has joined them in their cause.

The widows are currently sitting outside the residence of state former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, demanding the state government to fulfill their demands. They are seeking jobs for their families and other government benefits.

One of the widows, Manju Jaat is demanding a job for her brother-in-law instead of her 4-year-old son.

Another widow Madhubala demanding the state government to install a statue of her husband in the village, while Sundari Gurjar is demanding the college in her village be named after her husband.

The BJP leaders and workers organized a massive protest in Jaipur, demanding that the state government immediately fulfill the demands of the widows. The party is accusing the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot-led government of backtracking on its promises.

During the protest, several BJP leaders and workers were detained by the police, including Rajasthan Deputy Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rajendra Rathore.

“We have initiated the protest today and we will continue it. The kind of behaviour the state govt is showcasing is an insult to democracy, we will take the protest against the govt further in all corners of the state,” Rathore said.

Meanwhile, Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas assured that the state government is standing with the families of the martyrs. He also slammed the BJP for politicizing the issue.

“We respect Dr Kirodi Lal Meena, he’s a senior leader, it’s not a BJP vs Cong thing. Rajasthan govt is with the families of martyrs. BJP is politicising the issue, they might have received orders from top brass,” said Pratap Singh Khachariyawas.

Three widows of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were removed from a site outside Congress MLA Sachin Pilot’s residence in Jaipur in the wee hours, the Hindustan Times reported. As per reports, the widows have been shifted to a hospital.

These widows have been protesting since February 28 and launched an indefinite hunger strike six days ago, demanding a change in rules so that their relatives can get government jobs on compassionate grounds.

Recently, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot issued a statement accusing the BJP of misinforming Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the issue.

The 2019 Pulwama attack is considered as one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in which as many as 40 CRPF jawans were martyred. The attack happened on February 14 when a Jaish suicide bomber rammed a vehicle carrying over 100 kg of explosives into their bus in Pulwama district.
