A piece of empowering news is coming in from Arunachal Pradesh where Major Ponung Doming created history by becoming the first woman officer to be elevated to the rank of lieutenant colonel. Major Ponung Doming is the first woman officer from Arunachal Pradesh to achieve the feat.

Ponung Doming was elevated from the rank of Major to that of lieutenant colonel in the Indian Army. Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu congratulated Ponung Doming as he wrote on Twitter, “A proud moment for all of us... Major #PonungDoming creates history.
