Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday assured the flood-affected people that the Centre and the state governments are working on a war footing to provide every possible assistance to them.

In his monthly 'Maan ki Baat' radio address, Modi said, "I assure all the people who have been affected by the floods that the Centre and the state governments are working together to provide speedy relief."

Millions of people have been hit by the floods in Bihar and Assam. Around 200 people have lost their lives in the two states.

Several rivers, including the Ganga and Bramhaputra, are flowing above the danger mark at many places.

The Mumbai-Kolhapur Mahalaxmi Express with around 900 passengers onboard got stranded in floodwaters between Vagani and Badlapur stations in Maharashtra on Saturday. All the passengers were rescued after an 8-hour long operation by the Army, Air Force and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
