Naveen Patnaik takes oath as the Chief Minister of Odisha for fifth term

Naveen Patnaik, who had a clean sweep win in Asembly election with a decisive majority, took oath as the Chief Minister of Odisha for the fifth term. Naveen Patnaik and his team of ministers were administered the oath of the office in a function Bhubaneswar.

A 72-year-old Patnaik records his fifth term in office as chief minister of Odisha, making him of the longest-serving CMrs of the coastal state.


Gita Mehta, prominent Indian writer and sister of Naveen Patnaik also present at the swearing in ceremony of Naveen Patnaik. 11 cabinet ministers and nine ministers of Odisha were appointed on CM Patnaik's recommendation. There will be 10 new faces in the minitry.

PM Modi congratulated Naveen Patnaik for swearing-in as Odisha CM. "Congratulations to Naveen Patnaik ji on taking oath as Odisha’s Chief Minister. Best wishes to him and his team in fulfilling the people’s aspirations. I assure complete cooperation from the Centre in working for Odisha’s progress," Naveen Patnaik.

Ranendra Pratap Swain and Arun Kumar Sahu also took oath as ministers in Odisha Government. Gita Mehta, prominent Indian writer and sister of Naveen Patnaik was also present at the swearing in ceremony of Naveen Patnaik.

In 2019 Assembly electionn, the Biju Janata Dal secured 112 seat in the 147-member, held along with Lok Sabha polls, has been in power in the state since 2000.
