Muzaffarpur Shelter Home Case: SC slams Bihar govt over its failure to file correct FIR; says, 'what are you doing is shameful, inhuman'

The Supreme Court slammed Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government over its failure to file correct FIR and gives 24 hours to it add charges under section 377 (rape) IPC and POCSO Act in the FIR in Muzaffarpur shelter home in which over 40 girls were sexually assualted.

The top court slamming Bihar government and said if found fault over registering FIR, court will direct orer againt the government. 'if we find that there were offences under section 377 IPC and POCSO Act and you did not register FIR, we will pass an order against the government,' said Supreme Court.


Supreme Court asked, “What are you doing?. It further added, “ It’s shameful, If the child is sodomised you say it’s nothing? How can you do this? It’s inhuman. We were told that matter will be looked with great seriousness, this is seriousness? Every time I read this file it’s tragic.”

The Supreme Court was hearing a separate case of multiple rapes at a shelter home run by state government, in Muzaffarpur, Bihar when it found the Bihar government's explanation on sodomy cases lacking in merit.
