Mumbai: Woman arrested for running prostitution racket from Andheri

On 26 June, Mumbai Police arrested a 23-year-old woman for allegedly running a prostitution racket from a rented flat in Andheri.

According to a report in the Times of India, the woman faked her identity in order to rent a flat in Andheri. She claimed that she was running a film production house and that she was recruiting budding actors.

The daily reported that the two policemen reached her rented accommodation, posing as customers and paid Rs 20,000 for two women. "Cash of Rs 20,000 were paid for two women for sex. The place was raided after the decoy alerted the team that was waiting outside. The accused was issued noticed in the night and was arrested on Sunday morning," a police official was quoted as saying.

Another report added that the accused organised nude photo shoots of the models and would then send it across to her customers after which they would negotiate the "price" of the women.

The police have also recovered over 100 photos of different models from various parts of the country. It is also being alleged that known businessmen and some Bollywood faces were in touch with the woman.
