In the pretext of Rahul Gandhi’s remark over ‘Chowkidar Chor hai’, the BJP has responded over his submission before the Supreme Court that Congress president has always resided on falsehood.

Rahul Gandhi, while submitting an undertaking in the apex court said, “I will not attribute any views, observations or findings to the Court in political addresses to the media and in public speeches, unless such views, observations or findings are recorded by the Court.”

The Supreme Court had accepted a review plea filed by the Prashant Bhushan led team against the Rafale jet deal verdict after The Hindu led by N. Ram revealed some Defence Ministry documents and published it in the newspaper. Rahul Gandhi, while jumping the guns, had said that it’s the Supreme Court which has now accepted that ‘Chowkidar Chor hai.’

His credibility has taken a beating. People in public life to generously go on saying untruth & to repeat it is a matter of grief. I feel sorry that President of a national party like Congress depends only on falsehood,” said Nirmala Sitharaman in a press brief in Delhi.

While the case was filed by the BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi, who had filed the case in Supreme Court and urged the bench to hear the matter and acknowledge it. Lekhi tweeted out saying, “It’s an admission of guilt & thus Contempt.

Considering the need to protect the integrity of the court in these testing times, such an admission is a vindication of the petition. I hope & pray that it is responded with strictest rebuke by the court.”
