Mahrashatra village Panchayat asks Minor rape survivor to leave village, after she denied to abort

One shocking incident has come to light as 15 years old rape victim and her family were allegedly asked to leave their home by the orders of Village Panchayat in Dhulia, district of Maharashtra. The Panchayat ordered them to leave the village after rape victim denied to abort her pregnancy.

The family of the rape victim allegedly said that the panchayat was forcing the minor to have an abortion after one of the relatives of Panchayat members raped their daughter. However, the victim's family denied to terminate the pregnancy and the victim finally gave birth to the baby on 30th May.

According to the media report, Parents of the victim claims that they were in Gujrat when this incident took place. When they returned to their home, they found that their daughter was in eight months of pregnancy. The father of the rape victim said that after they learnt about the rape they approached panchayat for the justice but instead to help them, they started harassing the girl and forced her to abortion.

He also said that earlier the police were not looking into the case but after a social worker, Naval Thakre intervened finally a case has been registered on 19th May. As soon the case was filed, the Panchayat started pressuring the family to withdraw the case and forced the victim to terminate the pregnancy, the family denied to take the risk to put 15 years old daughter's like at risk.
