Three persons, including a BJP functionary, Tuesday surrendered in connection with the killing of an office-bearer of an educational institute in Maharashtra's Akola district, over 500 kilometres from here, police said.

According to police, BJP youth wing state vice president Vikram alias Chhotu Gawande and his kin had attacked Kisanrao Hundiwale (50) over the issue of changing and adding names of some functionaries of the institute where the latter was a secretary.

The incident happened on Monday at the public trust registration office at Nehru Park road in Akola, an official said.

"Hundiwale was hit with a fire extinguisher on the head resulting in grievous injuries. Gawande, his father Shriram and brother Dhiraj fled after the incident. Hundiwale died on Monday after which we registered a murder case at Civil Line police station," he said.

"All three accused surrendered on Tuesday morning," he added.
