A man from Madhya Pradesh’s Balghat fled after his wife caught him attempting to rape a minor in Birsa area, the police said.

A Birsa police station Inspector Nilesh Parteti said “Saku Netam, 25, tried to rape the 10-year-old girl, a student of Class 5, while she was alone at her house on Friday evening. However, Netam's wife followed him and raised an alarm when she saw the accused undressing the girl”.

He further said that a complaint has been filed against the accused under sections of IPC as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. As the accused is on the run, the police launched a hunt to nab him.

“The girl's family filed a complaint today. Netam has been charged with trying to rape the minor as well as house trespass under relevant sections of the IPC as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,” the Inspector added.

The minors have become soft-target for the rapists as they find it a room of getting away after committing the crime. As the administration lacks the sensitivity to curb such incidents, it has been increasing day by day.
