10% Reservation in jobs and education for economically weaker upper castes by PM Modi-led government ahead of Lok Sabha Elections

The Union Cabinet on Monday has approved a 10 percent Reservation for economically backward upper castes. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government announced 10% Reservation to Upper Castes people. 10 percent reservation approved by Union Cabinet is for economically weaker upper caste sections in Governementt jobs and education.

Well, it is a master stroke by Bhartiya Janata Party ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections.


Ahead of the General elections this year, the government has announced reservation in jobs for those belonging to the upper castes and earning less than Rs 8 lakh per year, according to IndianExpress.

A bill to amend Article 15 and 16 of the constitution will be moved in Parliament to this effect. The Supreme Court has capped the quota for caste-based reservation for government jobs at 50%.

The Reservation benefits will be given to economically weaker upper caste people. Cabinet clears 10% quota economically backward class. Government to move constitutional amendment tomorrow. Constitutional amendment for 10% quota to economically weaker upper castes. A constitutional amendment bill will be moved in the parliament to this effect.
