LG Visited Dhangri village

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on January 2 visited Upper Dhangri village in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district where four people were killed and several were injured in a terrorist attack on Sunday evening.

Earlier in the day, locals gathered at Main Chowk in the mountainside village of Dhangri and staged a protest over the attack. They raised slogans against the district administration and demanded LG Sinha to listen to their demands.

Yesterday evening, terrorists barged into three houses, separated around 50 metres apart, of a particular community and killed four people and injured six others.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and People's Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti condemned the terrorist attack and expressed her condolences.

“It's a heart-wrenching incident & great loss for the families, may god give them strength. A group gets benefited from Hindu&Muslim narratives in such cases, they get an opportunity to spread hatred in the country: PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti, Anantnag on Rajouri terror attack,” she said as quoted by ANI.

Earlier in the day, National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah also ‘unequivocally’ condemned the attack and expressed his condolences.

"Deeply shocked as more details emerge of this targeted attack in Rajouri district of Jammu. I unequivocally condemn this heinous attack and send my condolences to the families of the deceased. I hope those injured in this attack will make a swift and complete recovery. #RajouriAttack," Omar Abdullah tweeted.

Meanwhile, The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to visit Upper Dangri village to investigate the matter.

Several organisations have called protests in Jammu on Monday against the terrorist attack in Rajouri.

Police have strengthened the presence of security and forces and are continuing their search operation in the Dhangri village.

Further details are awaited.
